FREEWARE - This app will turn off the backlight of your colored Palm handheld every time you turn your Palm on. This can be useful if you need to conserve battery power.
The application is tiny (750 bytes!) and there's no icon to clutter up your launcher. This is not a hack! It uses the Notification Manager introduced in Palm OS v4.0. It is safe to run on any Palm OS handheld.
You can always turn the backlight on by holding the power button for 2 seconds. Holding the power button for 2 seconds again turns the backlight back off - just like you expect it to!
If you decide you don't like the app you can just delete it and your Palm will revert to its original operation.

I had the same problem on my Zire71. Also this program wont work at all on my z22.

It only works half way on my palm (Zire71) - it turns the backlight off when it's installed but after hitting power to turn it back on, I can't turn it off...
