Description:
We received the following email attach with a program.

Mr. Rozendaal,

I am a PhD physicist working in the field of infrared physics. Last year my family gave me a Palm Pilot as a gift. I haven't found much use for it, until about a month ago.

My government sponsors at Eglin AFB asked me to write a blackbody program for CplxCalPro. I was hesitant at first, because I had been very satisfied with my old TI calculators for quick blackbody (and other) calculations.

About this same time, both ofmy TI calculators died. Instead of putting in new batteries and reprogramming my calculators, I thought I would try programming CplxCalPro.

Attached you will find a copy of the blackbody program I wrote. I have already used it extensively and distributed it to many of my colleagues.

I have also written a couple other small programs for computing the spatial resolution of diffraction limited optical systems and the aperture diameter required for a given spatial resolution.

These latter two programs are so small that they fit in your scratchpad. The blackbody program is extensive. It has been compared with other blackbody calculators to ensure the accuracy of the results. The numerical integration that is performed to get the band-averaged and thein-band radiances is more or less accurate, depending on the number onpoints selected for the integration.

This number of points is a user input (in your scratch pad), as well as the blackbody temperature, one wavelength for which the spectral radiance is computed and written out,and the lower and upper wave length of a square waveband over which the band integration is performed.

The spectral radiance of the blackbody for the given temperature is plotted versus wavelength, and the square waveband is plotted on the same plot for comparison.

I would be pleased if you put the blackbody program on your website andmade it available to other CplxCalPro users.

I developed the program using a trial version of CplxCalPro. I wouldalso be pleased if you gave me a free registration for CplxCalPro.

If you are interested, I will be happy to give you upgrades to theblackbody_radiance program as I develop them. I would also be interested in giving you other programs I might develop.

Sincerely,

David Flynn,

Consultant for the MacAulay Brown Corporation
Supporting the Air Force Research Laboratory, AFRL/MNG, at Eglin AFB, FL

It was my pleasure to email Mr. Flynn his well deserved free registration code.
